Thanks to its location, the village of Horní Lomná is widely used for recreation all year round. In winter the village is a skiing centre. Downhill runs and marked cross-country trails can be found near Lomná. In summer it is the starting point for hiking routes along the Beskydy ridges. A marked cycle route passes through the village.
Among the trips from the village of Horní Lomná, one of the most popular is the walk to the Kamenitý chalet (from the Doubravka bus stop), from where you can continue to the Kolářova chata Slavíč chalet. The route is pleasant and leads through beautiful mountain scenery, so it also works well as a quieter half-day trip and offers plenty of room for stops and rest.
From the Horní Lomná – swimming pool stop (next to our guesthouse) you can set out to Přelač and Muřinkový vrch and continue to the highest hill in the area, Velký Polom, a favourite destination for fitter walkers. This option will please anyone who wants a longer hike and a full day in the mountains.
The natural landmarks in the area include the wetland and orchid meadow above Kyčmol and the Úplaz nature reserve, which adjoins the Mionší primeval forest. The forest is accessible along the road from the village of Dolní Lomná and in season there are guided tours where you can learn more about the local nature.
Near our guesthouse stands a church, below which there is a spring where you can rest and recharge. In summer various cultural events are held here, which you can watch straight from our outdoor terrace. Horní Lomná is also popular with mushroom pickers, especially at times when the forests offer a rich harvest.
A beautiful cycle path runs through the Lomná valley, popular with cyclists and skaters alike. It follows the stream through the whole picturesque valley of Horní and Dolní Lomná and is about 15 km long, so it suits both an easy ride and a longer trip. On the way up there is a gentle climb, and on the way back a carefree ride without pedalling, ideal for families with children too.
Further possible routes for mountain bikes can be found on the surrounding hiking trails, where more experienced riders will also find what they are looking for. Just choose according to your mood and fitness and set off to discover the surrounding hills and forest sections.
In winter all the hiking routes can be used for cross-country skiing trips. On the trip towards Kyčmol you can ski along the ridge that follows the Czech-Slovak border. There are also two downhill skiing areas nearby, Přelač and Ski areál Armáda. By the Horní Lomná – swimming pool bus stop there is a pitch that is iced over for skating in suitable conditions.
Local attractions also include the so-called carriage races, rides on horse-drawn sledges. Children of course have plenty of opportunities for other winter fun here, such as sledging and tobogganing.
The surroundings offer many opportunities for both sporting and relaxing stays. Cycle paths, cross-country ski trails and hiking routes are all close to the guesthouse.
